oh, what a disaster

i seriously didnt..

(a) expect that there’d be so many people going for the interview!
(b) imagine there’d be TWO professors sitting in front of me, one of whom was really annoying
(c) think i’d make friends but i did!

okay, today’s interview was a disaster but i managed to make some friends.. i was supposed to have my interview at 9.15am but i only went in at like, 9.30am? anyway, that’s not the main point.
when i went in, after the ‘good mornings’, the professors IMMEDIATELY started asking questions. no introduction whatsoever, no ‘please tell us about yourself’ warm-up question. the male asked, ’so tell me, what is Blazer Committee?’ i wanted to drop off the sofa at such a funny question can! but then it got more serious. they asked about council [like duh] and WHETHER IT AFFECTED MY SCHOOLWORK. okay i was struggling between being honest and ’smoking’ my way out and i ended up being honest. because honestly, if i said it DIDNT, they’d probably raise their eyebrows and ask, “so.. what happened to your grades?” which would have been worse, definitely. but as you can imagine, being honest that i couldnt handle my CCA and studies meant that

they (confirm stamp plus guarantee) have a bad impression of me as a student!!!!!!!!

and i was supposed to value-add myself. SIAN. anyway, after that they asked me about pre-u seminar. oh my gosh i had to recall the question, which was smth along the lines of ‘how can singapore stay competitive and minimise the effects of economic restructuring that is needed in today’s rapidly changing world?’ and guess what? they asked me for my stand!!!! and when i mentioned that no doubt there ARE problems, the government has put in place some strategies. sounds like textbook answer but it IS true. and then guess what? they asked me my opinion about those so-called policies! whether it will solve the underlying social problems etc.. and after i made my answer……..

the male said, ‘i think you have missed the point.’

OH MY TIAN AND DI. i give up trying to describe my horrendous experience.

on a happier note, i made two new friends. okay at ntu i did make friends but becasue i went off to meet jasmine i didnt exchange numbers with them only know their names and schools. today i met intan and jamie!! i met intan at the NUS campus map board where i alighted from 96. haha! then we walked there together. i talked to jamie who was sitting beside me at the waiting area. and i didnt even know her name then, but i told her i was having lunch with intan so i asked her to join us. and she did! yeah i only asked for her name like when we were on bus 151 to sixth avenue. HAHA! we ate sandwiches at simply bread. psst, they have so many interesting types of BREAD! okay then we all went home. i took bus 67 all the way to tampines. quite fast la, about 45mins? haha :D

gonig for cellgroup later, so exciting! ciao~

  • Annon who just received her FASS call today! // May 9, 2008 at 11:44 pm

Helo! I just googled abt NUS FASS interview and found your wordpress. I needa go for the FASS interview on next monday. Do you know what I need to put inside my porfolio?! I really don’t have a clue. Ohhh if I may ask, what are the questions that they posted to you? Like what courses are you interested in? Or what? Ask about what you wrote in your discretionary admissions? THANKS!

your portfolio would usually include things that reflect you as a student and individual. things like certs of achievements, essays (if you’re part of an editorial team perhaps), basically anything. you can even choose to put in your personal works such as drawings or original poetry. JUST SHOW OFF OUR TALENTS.

the questions are mainly based on what’ve you have written under the discretionary section. if you’ve written about your CCA, then they’d surely ask you about it. if you mentioned certain courses you’d like to take up in FASS, they’ll probably ask you on the reasons why.

dont have to worry much i guess, there are different panels of interviewers every day if i’m not wrong. so you probably wont meet a meanie like the one i got :)
